Life Transitions Therapy in Tennessee
Find your way forward when life changes in ways you didnāt expect.
Therapy for when you have tried to āpower throughā
a divorce, an illness, a loss, a new reality, or changing roles.
Have you heard yourself or others say:
āJust give it time.ā
āIt could be worse.ā
āMany people go through this. Why canāt I get over it?ā
āI have to put on a brave face for friends and family.ā
āIf I really let myself feel this, I will fall apart.ā
āI am just so tired, numb, sad, angryā¦ā
Therapy can help with:
processing your experience in a safe space where you are the focus and priority
exploring how your past experiences influence how you process your present
rediscovering your own strengths, values, needs and hopes going forward
creating small actions you can use to cope, communicate and rediscover hope
I provide weekly and intensive sessions through telehealth for those residing in Tennessee, and in person in the Nashville, Brentwood, and Franklin Areas.
You donāt have to handle this alone
Taking steps to get support and heal through hard things is not a weakness, but a strength. You donāt have to justify wanting support or finding a new way forward.
Many of us have learned ānot to burden others.ā Those annoying sayings about having to put on your oxygen mask first, filling your own cup so you have something to give to others, and loving yourself first exist for a reason. I would add that you deserve to prioritize yourself because you matter AT LEAST as much as everyone elseā you may have just lost that message along the way.
My approach
You need an action plan that is just as individual as you are. We will create a plan together that provides support and healing now, while building hope, confidence and clarity for your future.
Modalities we may use include: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic approaches, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Systems Theory, and psychoeducation
The ways we can work together in therapy
-
Click on button to schedule free 15 minute session to ask questions and see if I feel like a good fit.
If yes, I will help you with next steps including some paperwork and setting up a 90 minute initial appointment. This piece is so important to understanding you!
We will decide if a traditional weekly model works for you, or if you would benefit from a more intensive experience. Your location, schedule and personal preference help us with this.
We will work together to identify what you need and want most from this experience so that we can create an actual plan with steps for real change
We will continually check in to see if we need to make changes

If you are in the Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin Area, you can do telehealth, in person or a combination.
Telehealth has been shown to be just as effective as in person, and has the obvious benefit of more flexibility and less of a time investment.
AND, some people prefer in person. I have some flexibility in person when scheduling allows (Maryland Farms/Cool Springs off of Moores Lane/Franklin near I-65 and 96, Intensives near Midtown in Nashville)

Therapy is amazing practice for identifying and communicating your feelings and needs in a safe space. It should be a dynamic, active process, not just venting. One of the reasons an intake session is so important is that it allows you to share your preferences as well as your needs. You already know a lot about what does and does not work for you. This space is for you. I lean towards a weird sense of humor and sharing my extensive life experiences (because I have been around awhile, it will take a lot for me to not have compassion for you).
I currently do not accept insurance. I operate as a private- pay therapist, This means that we have greater flexibility in how we shape your care and how and when we work together. Keep in mind:
All insurance companies require a formal mental health diagnosis to prove medical necessity.
I can provide a Superbill, but it will also need to have a diagnosis code. Using HSA funds also requires this.
I am happy to work with any diagnosis you already have and I do provide limited assessment and diagnosis. My focus will always be supporting you in identifying the traits and behaviors that are impacting your daily life.
About Me
Hi, Iām Jackie.
I am an educator and licensed clinical social worker in Tennessee. I bring an eclectic approach to therapy in flexible formats, to meet the real challenges of life.
The idea that no one else has walked in your shoes is profoundly important to me as a foundation for how I support you in healing and moving forward. Your action plan needs to be as individual as you are.
At this point in my own life, I have personally experienced and/or listened to a very long list of life events. Even if I have experienced something similar, or I have sat with someone else who has experienced, I will never pretend to fully understand how it has felt for you.
I highly value tolerance, learning, humor and connections. My values do not have to be yours, but it is essential that therapy with me feels like the place you can heal and collaborate to move forward.
